What is a Boo Basket?
A Boo Basket is a basket filled with autumnal or Halloween-themed gifts and treats and given to your partner or family member, friend, whoever you want to treat! Think of it like an Easter basket or a Christmas stocking, but in Autumn.
What started as a fun neighbourly game of ‘You’ve been BOO’d’ has become a full-on gift exchange that’s living rent-free on our FYP. This seasonal trend started on TikTok and now happens every October in the run up to Halloween.
The boo basket originally came from a neighbourhood game called ‘You’ve Been BOO’d’ where someone secretly leaves a basket full of gifts on your doorstep with a sign saying ‘You’ve been BOO’d’. You hang the sign on your door and then create your own basket and secretly gift another neighbour, where they then do the same to another neighbour creating a chain reaction of treats.
However, now people are taking the gifting element and couples are gifting their boo’s with their own boo basket! It’s the perfect excuse to go shopping (like you’d need one) and show off your gifting skills.
What Do You Put in a Boo Basket?
As it’s Autumn and Halloween-themed, think cosy fur-lined slippers, pumpkin mugs, fluffy ghost-printed socks, books, pumpkin-spiced candles, sweets, hot chocolate, knitted bobble hats and cute teddies. Whatever your boo likes basically!
