We’re masters in the field when it comes to creating the perfect ombre lip so if you want a fuller looking pout, an ombre lip is one to try. While it’s not as quick as just swiping some lipstick on, gradient lips are a great way to create depth and elevate your lip look. So here’s our step-by-step guide on how to create the perfect ombre lip…
Step 1: Prep The Lips
In order for your lip look to last and apply smoothly, you’ll need to prep the base. Use our exfoliating lip scrub to buff away any dry skin then wipe away. Apply a thin layer of lip balm to moisturise and hydrate your lips then blot away most of it after 5 minutes so that your lips are softened and ready for smooth application.
Step 2: Line The Lips and Shade
Using a lip liner that’s close to the colour of your lip base or lipstick but is slightly darker, take the tip of the pencil to the edge of the lips and use a back and forth motion to slowly outline your lips. Bring the colour in slightly around the corners and outer edges of the lips as this will start to create the gradient by adding pigmentation and depth from the outer edge inwards.
Step 3: Soften The Line
Using a finger or a clean brush, tap against the edge of the lip liner on the inner lip to soften any harsh lines to create a smoother gradient, leaving the inner lip bare.
Step 4: Colour The Centre
Using a lighter shade of a lip base or lipstick and an angled lip definer brush, take the product and start to colour the centre of the lips until covered. Don’t worry about this being neat as it will be buffed out. Choose a solid lipstick for a more matte lip look or use our lip base for a glossier look.
Step 5: Blend
Using a small fluffy brush, gently buff the lip liner and lip base in the middle of the lips to create an ombre effect. Tap lightly and gently brush to ensure the two colours mix. If you don’t have a brush, press your lips together to naturally mix the two colours or use a clean finger to tap the colours gently into each other.
Step 6: Add Shine To Finish
Using our lip oil or one of our glosses, cover the lips to add high shine and seal the lip look in.
